The Sandbox Observatory
The Sandbox Observatory is a private observatory located on a quiet back bay just off Charlotte Harbor.

It is a 2.3 meter Sirius observatory housing a 14.5" RCOS telescope on a Paramount ME, all mounted on a large concrete pier. The primary camera is the ubiquitous SBIG ST-10XME. The observatory can be remotely controlled through the internet.

The purpose of the observatory is simply to have fun in retirement and perhaps to learn a little about astronomy, photography, art, computers, carpentry, welding, machining, electrical systems, pouring concrete, and patience. Oh - and to take some pretty pictures along the way. I try not to take it all too seriously.

Enjoy - Robert Hardy
